The Inter-American Development Bank hosted on May 2-4 Vanguardia Latina 2007, a conference that brought together university students, government officials, business leaders, academics and artists to discuss how young people can help reduce development disparities in the Americas. The event focused on issues such as the outlook for inter-American relations, poverty reduction, and strengthening links between Latin American migrants and their countries of origin.

The conference was organized by Espacio de Vinculacion (EVAC), a Mexican non-profit institution sponsored by major Mexican corporations, with support from the IDB, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
