World Youth Conference, Mexico 2010 – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

In the context of the 2010 UN International Year of Youth, starting on August 12th, 2010, we invite you to participate in the World Youth Conference (WYC Mexico 2010) that will take place in Monterrey, Mexico from August 23 to 27, 2010.

The WYC Mexico 2010 will be composed of 3 main events that will be interconnected, each representative of the key actors involved in strengthening youth participation in the development of the future: the Governments Forum, the Legislators Forum and the Social Forum (the latter composed of the NGO Global Meeting and the Youth Interactive Forum).

The aim of the NGO Global Meeting is to identify action priorities on youth to be included in the international development agenda, further to the Millennium Development Goals’ benchmark. This meeting will bring together more than 420 participants who will develop a set of recommendations to be submitted to and examined by the Governments Forum on Wednesday, August 25th. Likewise, the recommendations will be delivered to the Parliamentarians Forum with the aim of including in their deliberations the demands and necessities identified during the NGO Global Meeting

Participation requirements for the NGO Global Meeting:

· 1. Participants must be nominated by a Youth Organization that fulfills the following criteria:

a. Respect for human rights, cultural, religious and ideological diversity and action aiming to contribute to the realization of the Millennium Development Goals and the World Programme of Action for Youth.

b. To have efficient and effective programs that are focused on youth and development and have an impact at a local, national and/or international level.

2. All participants must be between 18 and 35 years before April 9th, 2010.

For the selected Delegates who will participate in the NGO Global Meeting (2 NGOs for each member state of the UN and one representative by NGO) the Organizing Committee of the Conference will pay the travel and accommodation expenses during the WYC Mexico 2010.
