Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti (YAFH) PDF Print E-mail
More than 70 young leaders from the Western Hemisphere will join their Haitian peers to address multiple challenges within the poorest country in our region.

On behalf of the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) receive our most cordial greetings. We would like to invite you to the Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti (YAFH) and its subsequent Community Service Week (CSW), to be held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on August 13-21, 2009.

UNA-DR is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the work of the United Nations. We contribute to the strengthening of the U.N. mission by coordinating educational and cultural activities, which seek to raise public awareness and encourage citizen and youth participation. More than 25,000 Dominican and international students have participated in our programs and initiatives.

The YAFH seeks to engage youth from the Dominican Republic and Haiti, as well as international students, to share best practices and become part of a process of dialogue towards the design and implementation of development projects for Haiti.  More than 70 young leaders from the Western Hemisphere will join their Haitian peers to address multiple challenges within the poorest country in our region.

Both initiatives are part of UNA-DR, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo / Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE/GFDD) and Haitian Action for the United Nations (AHNU) Institutional Commitment to Action with the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), which was eloquently announced by Former President Bill Clinton during the 2009 CGI U Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas (www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/Page.aspx?pid=3592 <http://www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/Page.aspx?pid=3592>).

Enclosed you will find an invitation letter for the Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti (YAFH) and the Community Service Week (CSW), the registration form as well as the UNA-DR's Dominican-Haitian Youth Initiatives Brochure.

Please feel free to forward this information to any youth leader or student association interested in the development of Haiti.

    Registration Form

Dominican-Haitian issues have been a priority for the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) and the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo / Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE/GFDD) since our genesis, and each new year continue to occupy a special place in our agenda. UNA-DR, FUNGLODE/GFDD, Haitian Action for the United Nations (AHNU) and its partners, as part of our institutional Commitment to Action with the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), are sponsoring the Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti (YAFH) and its subsequent Community Service Week (CSW) in Port-au-Prince.

The Forum will be held within the framework of the Second Haitian Model United Nations Conference (SIMHANU 2009) on August 13 – 15, 2009 at the Karibe Convention Center in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  The CSW’s activities, scheduled on August 16 – 20, 2009 in different locations of the capital city, will promote partnerships to cultivate the next generation of action in Haiti.

This initiative will bring together more than 70 young leaders from the Western Hemisphere who will join their Haitian peers to address multiple challenges within the poorest country in our region.
