Nigeria, 20 November 2008 - Frontline media administrator, youth leader and one time General Manager of Daily Times, Chief Olu Fadairo (MON) is dead. He was aged 78. Fadairo, former chairman, Board of Directors of the Ogun State Broadcasting/ Television Corporation (OGBC/OGTV), now Gateway Radio and Gateway Television respectively as well as the first secretary of the Institute of Directors (IOD), died at his Surulere, Lagos residence on Sunday, November 16.
The Oluwo, Offin, Shagamu in Ogun State, Fadairo distinguished himself not only in his career in the media which spanned over four decades but also in his renowned contributions to youth development which earned him legion of honours. Fadairo was the president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), a position he held for 21 years and he also functioned as vice-president, World Assembly of Youth (WAY); president, United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNAN); vice-president, World Federation of United Nations Associations; chairman, National Advisory committee for the 1985 International Youth Year (IYY); member, National Youth Advisory Committee for Social Development and also chairman, Lagos State National Youth Award.
