TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Students locked out of school. STUDENTS attending a school along the East/West corridor are being locked out of the school compound for frivolous reasons, one parent said yesterday, describing it as “unfair punishment.” Full article

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Braithwaite: Stop knocking youths. RICHARD BRAITHWAITE, a former manager of the Trinidad and Tobago national football team has come to the defence of the nation’s youth who have been dismissed as “delinquents, violent and useless”. Full article

US VIRGIN ISLANDS: After-School Programs Will Provide Reading and Math Help for Select Students. The Department of Education will begin a free after-school program that is designed to provide assistance to students in the second through ninth grades in the areas of reading and math. Students who did not perform at the necessary achievement levels on the Virgin Islands Territorial Assessment of Learning (VITAL) or those who have a specific need, as identified by their principal, are eligible for participation in the program, according to a press release from Education.
