The Dominican Republic Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have unanimously approved a resolution to hold a joint meeting of senators and deputies at the Assembly Hall, to formally launch a campaign under the heading “16 Days of Action Against Gender Violence”.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 27 November. The aim is to recognize and act against all forms of violence against women and their human rights. The campaign includes the link between violence and HIV-AIDS, protection of human rights and the inclusion of gender justice in national legislation for cases of genocide and war crimes against humanity. The “15 Days of Action Against Gender Violence” campaign was formally instituted by law 46-07, which was submitted by ruling PLD party deputy Minou Tavares Mirabal, together with legislators from all parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies. www.dominicantoday.com |
