The donation was made under CYPCC’s Sustainable livelihood programme geared towards ensuring that young people from special communities and in special circumstances are provided with the necessary tools for empowerment.

The youth HIV/AIDS initiative, the Commonwealth Youth for Positive Living(CYPL), introduced in Guyana by the Commonwealth Youth Programme Caribbean Centre in 2003 to combat the spread of the infection among young people between the ages of 15-29 years old, has recorded relative success in promoting behaviour change among this age group.

The Ladder of Participation is a model for thinking about youth participation developed by Roger Hart. The bottom three rungs describe youth involvement that is not true participation whereas the top five rungs describe true participation.

There are two events that happened over the last week which made me even more proud to be Jamaican than I was before. As a matter of fact, I have been strutting around all day at work making sure everybody hears the Jamaican accent.
