Do you know your HIV status? 55 persons living with HIV/AIDS in the British Virgin Islands

With a prevalence rate of HIV infection of 1.5 percent and a population of about 27,000 people, there could be as many as 400 people living with HIV in the British Virgin Islands. Fifty-five persons are confirmed to be living with the disease.

Photovoice: My Island through My Eyes, Jamaica

The youth in Hagley Gap, Jamaica are faced with many obstacles because of where they live. They have no running water and many of them can not afford to go to school. These children are the future of this community and have many ideas on how they can change, work and fix their living conditions. Their days consist of helping fetch water, washing their clothes at the river or helping take care of their younger brothers and sisters.

Floods create a ‘ghost town’, putting young lives on hold in Córdoba, Colombia

Since the flooding began with the year’s first rainy season months ago, the streets of Palo de Agua have been passable only by boat. Two of the three local school buildings have been inundated, and the third is being used as a shelter.
