ECOSOC Regional Innovation Conference for Latin America: Youth: the core of sustainable development

The Innovation Conference offers a unique opportunity to gather a variety of involved experts, civil society members, of the academic world and the private sector, in order to promote sustainable development. The primary objective of the fair, as defined by ECOSOC, is to: "Promote an exchange of practical examples of what has worked to help identify polices that merit scaling-up." SADC DECLARATION ON POVERTY ERADICATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Several NGOs from SADC regions fully participated in the conference which was held from 16th to 20th April in Mauritius. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has been in existence since 1980, when it was formed as a loose alliance of nine majority-ruled States in Southern Africa known as the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC), with the main aim of coordinating development projects in order to lessen economic dependence on the then apartheid South Africa.
